Can someone give me an idea of what saturday jobs there are in Darlington. I'm really confused on the age restrictions for them, do you have to be 16 or not? And if you do, what type of jobs can under 16's do???

Great question! Check out the Help Yourself section of this site to find a link to a leaflet on what jobs you can do, what jobs you can't do and working hours restrictions. In terms of what part time jobs are out there for under 18's it seems the best advice is to hit the shops and cafes armed with a CV (if you have one)and ask if they have any job opportunities. Good luck in your search and if you need anything else let me know!

Hello, I've spoken to someone at Connexions and they can hep you right a CV and they also provide information packs if you just want some more information on what to do. Visit the What's on Section of this site to find out where Connexions are based. They are listed under support services. Hope this helps and good luck with the job hunt!

I've noticed that there aren't many websites for young people where saturday jobs are advertised. Even if there are - i couldn't find any. I got told by connexions that it is because it is too costly for business to advertise the vacancies for young people - therefore why doesn't someone set up a website where it is quick and easy for businesses to do it free or at a low cost?

Thanks for you comment and suggestion about advertising Saturday jobs. It is not something we have considered in the past but is something we could look at in the future. I will speak to some people I work with and see if we can come up with some possible suggestions/solutions. So watch this space over the next week as it would be great to know what you think about our ideas.

Hello Matty, sorry for not getting back to you sooner! I have had a quick chat with my boss and we are going to investigate whether we can use this website. I was thinking that local companies could email details of their Saturday jobs and I could create a specific page on this site which displays them. What do you think? The only problem with this is that it will rely on them contacting me with the information. Have you got any other idea's as an alternative or to support this? Jo

Young people - problem to be solved or potential to be nurtured? With funding from the Youth Crime Action Plan we have the opportunity to employ 8 part-time street based Youth Workers, with the brief to build relationships with young people and engage them in positive activities, opportunities and events - especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you are up for the challenge of meeting young people where they are and helping them realise their potential then this post is for you.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in starting a career in youth work. We offer training, support and the chance to work alongside experienced workers.

For an informal discussion regarding the posts, please contact Mervyn Bell, Youth Support Partnership Manager on (01325) 346227 or visit the website below to find out more
